This app acts as an audio receiver, letting you connect Macs together and play music through connected external speakers for a more wholesome experience.

And finally, Elmedia Player takes care of your media library with an incredibly robust playlist feature, keeping your files neatly organized. The main advantage of the program is its amazing omnivorous nature, which is naturally necessary for such a player. Colibri offers a lot of features for quite a low price. This music player for Mac is aimed primarily at lovers of quality music.

Besides that, Colibri includes support for Cue sheets. In addition to supporting the most common audio formats, the player is also distinguished by the fact that it practically does not load the system and saves battery power.

Besides that, there is built-in support for ReplayGain and the ability to change the audio output device. In addition, the app makes it possible to control playback using hotkeys.

Unlike previous music player Mac apps which imply that you create your own playlists, this music player is closer to the standard “Music”. To create a playlist, just click on artists, albums, or individual tracks to add them to the collection. In the latest version, a dark version of the design has been added. Amarra Luxe not only performs the functions of a regular audio player but also provides integration into such popular online services as Tidal, Qobuz, and Nugs.

More details on the Yamaha A-S Researched by Crutchfield’s Stacey B. Features Connections Controls Features “Natural Sound” Concept: Yamaha, with a long history of over years as a musical instrument maker, also has a high reputation for HiFi components.

ToP-ART Design: When processing and transmission of the audio signal is simple and direct there is less chance of it being affected by noise and distortion. High-Strength Chassis: In order to effectively dampen the vibrations that have adverse effects on sound quality, the A-S chassis has a double bottom design with a 1mm iron plate. A solid center bar further enhances high rigidity and dampens vibrations. Mac: OS X A compatible Mac computer will only support up to bit audio.

The Phono input can be used to connect a turntable with an MM phono cartridge to play vinyl records. The unit’s Phono input also features a ground terminal. The audio stays in the digital domain, giving you pure, pristine dynamic sound for all your entertainment sources, from sports and other programs to movies and concerts. Controls Sophisticated Front-Panel Design: With a beautifully simple and unique design inherited directly from Yamaha’s HiFi audio components, this amplifier also boast an easy-to-operate button layout.

Choose High or Low: High: Select High if using one set A or B of speakers with impedance of 6-ohm or higher; when bi-wiring the impedance of the speaker must also be 6-ohms or higher.

Low: Select Low if using one set A or B of speakers with the impedance of 4-ohm to 6-ohm; if using two sets A and B of speakers simultaneously, the impedance of each speaker must be at least 8-ohms; when bi-wiring the impedance of the speaker must also be 4-ohms to 6-ohms. There are no provisions for mounting rack mount tabs on this Yamaha A-S sadly, Mike. You CAN still use this in a rack mount setup, just you would have to use a shelf that can support its almost 30lb weight.

If your stack is tight and you don’t have a 1U space to spare, you could consider the Rotel I’ve linked below. I hope this helps! The volume control is indeed very precise on the Yamaha A-S that I recently purchased as a Christmas gift. The Bass and Treble can only be adjusted on the unit – I have not changed factory settings – no need! Apr 16, ]. Hi Craig, the bass and treble only from unit, the remote allows for volume increase or decrease precise control, I enjoy my 2 channel yamaha rig.

Hope this helps [ Leo Apr 14, ]. Cannot control bass or treble with the remote. Apr 12, ]. I find the volume adjustment works well.

It will adjust up or down as long as the button on the remote is depressed I find the level achieved , lay off the button and your good to go. Have been very pleased with this amplifier. You will not be disappointed. My A-S drives some power hungry Wharfedales very efficiently. I spin a high end CD player and soon a turntable as well. Relax and enjoy. I have had vintage gear for many years!

And this is a great upgrade. I was not disappointed, it’s a well thought out while engineered piece of equipment. I love it, [ Randy Mar 25, ]. I am very happy with the It is not as “Punchy” as the Marantz when played loud and not as “warm” as a classic Marantz but it gives very clean accurate sound. I plan to upgrade it with an A-S or in the future but it works so well I am in no rush. I would consider it a best buy for the sound vs cost.

No, not at all. The tone quality and build quality is second to none. This amp will definitely meet your needs. Bill – you and I are perhaps of the same “vintage”. The speakers are absolutely ruthless when paired with bad gear or source material; this Yamaha, which I admit to being skeptical about, is simply fabulous. Sounds much better than the Adcom gear that preceded it, and is probably as good or better than many more expensive “separates” that I ran for many years.

I wouldn’t have touched a Yamaha amp a few decades back. Things change. You will be hearing your speakers which are efficient designs and will play quite loudly with this amp , not the amp.

Give it a try – my bet is that it will drastically outperform the receivers you mention.. I too had vintage equipment. Yamaha amp, pre-amp, tuner etc from the early 80’s. Love the entire set up. It is a great set up.

Power is fine for what I’m pushing! I bought this item long enough ago so I don’t have a clue how much it weighed in its box. This is an answer Crutchfield should easily be able to answer.

All they have to do is put a boxed item on their scale. Ask Crutchfield! Nov 15, ]. Just add the iblue brand Bluetooth Audio Adapter. All connection cables are included. Hook up is fast and simple and once linked, just move your phone or tablet bluetooth audio setting to the maximum level. From there use the amp controls to adjust sound. I’ll see if I can find answer for you — it would be helpful for me; can’t believe Cfield technical wouldn’t have an answer. I’ll dig into the manual and see what’s there; but please don’t decide against the until you know for sure.

It’s a really Yamaha used to make a bluetooth adapter for this. I do not know if it’s still available. I’ve just plugged in my computer via USB if I want to listen to streamed music. You can’t as far as I know. Such connectivity would be through an input device such as a mobile phone so equipped. Must say this is a fine piece of equipment. Jaws exceeded expectation But you need the YBA Bluetooth adapter. The YBA is discontinued. They are available if you search online. The Yamaha Yba 11 Bluetooth adapter worked for my son and his amplifier.

IDK, but would love to hear some practical ideas! From what i have researched online, this answer from Charles is incorrect. Your main speakers will continue to get the full range of the audio signal. And the subwoofer will get everything 90hz and below, unless you set the crossover on your sub for less than that.

Not the best way to implement things really. Yes, when you connect a sub, the amp will redirect frequencies above 90 Hz to your main speakers and frequencies below 90 to the sub. Hope you enjoy yours like I have mine. Push two Vandersteen Model 2’s early issues, very nice. Per Yamaha, it is aluminum. Yes, brushed aluminum. Yes it is [ Russell Feb 13, ]. It certainly has all the appearances of aluminum.

There is a bit of surface texture that one usually finds on metal rather than plastic. The body of the amplifier is metal and the face appears to be backed by a layer of plastic which shows up at the ends of the front panel. The plastic backing likely gives rigidity to the face panel. I’m pleased with the face panel because it provides good insulation for the contols from the internal mechanism.

Feb 13, ]. Yes, it seems to be. Yup [ Arthur Feb 13, ]. There is a loudness knob. Which allows you to adjust. I keep it pretty low which makes the sound richer for sure. This amp. Reminds me of a high end Pre Amp I had in the 90s. It doesn’t have all the unneeded IMO sound modifications like concert, movie theatre mode etc. I have it hooked up to 2 big Cerwin Vega crate speakers from the 90s. And it powers them beautifully. The loudness control is continuously variable not stepped from “flat” to dB.

I generally set the loudness to around dB for most tracks. My floor standing 3 way’s are by no means perfectly flat reference speakers, but it is worth mentioning that in using either CD or USB with amp’s internal DAC as the source on my specific setup, that the speaker output is anything but flat with the loudness set to flat.

Very harsh sounding in the 1 Khz – 5 kHz range. Setting the loudness to around dB fixes this on most tracks. Without an RTA to properly analyze the amp’s signal output, I’m very cautious in how much I’d criticize it’s frequency response. In terms of clarity and noise; I’m satisfied with both at the amp’s price point. Keep in mind with this specific amp, a lot of what you’re paying for is all of the various inputs, internal preamp, and internal DAC not the amp itself.

Hope this helps. If by “stepped” you mean toggle the answer is no Like you I have used my amp from until I mistakenly thought I had blown out a channel.. I got the new Yamaha then realized a crossed wire was killing one channel in the old one I use the Yahamaha for my turn table and cd in the house and the old me on my studio.

The Yamaha is very clean and sharp Hi Fred, The loudness control is continuous. You’re not just in the front row; the sound is as if you’re standing on the conductor’s podium. Just breathtaking. My primary music interests are classical and jazz. You won’t be disappointed with this amp, that I can assure you! All the best, Norm Williamson [ Norman Feb 06, ]. Continuous [ kevin Feb 06, ]. The loudness control is continuous. I find the response so clean however that I rarely adjust loudness beyond the “flat” setting [ Michael Feb 06, ].

Hello: Checking into the HS7s specs for a means of bypassing the built-in bi-amp, I can find nothing to help you with doing so. I don’t know what dangers might exist when piggybacking this amp onto these speakers, but I wouldn’t experiment.

Yamaha HS7s are active monitors they have built-in power amplification. The A-S does not have preamp outs. You could use the tape outs to feed the monitors, but [ Antonio Dec 02, ]. My guess would be yes. Check impedance specs on both speakers and amp.. Hi, I am not familiar with the Yamaha HS7’s.

I would guess you could order cables that would do the trick, or make them yourself. I don’t know how the results would sound. Short answer: it migh be possible, but it’s not natively supported. I would call crutchfield about this question? This amp only has a subwoofer output at the preamp level; I am not familiar with the speakers you mention. If they can accommodate amplifier level inputs as some older subwoofers do they might work, but if they don’t my guess would be no I’m really not sure.

I would just call the customer support number and ask them. They were extremely helpful with all my purchases. By the way I love the Yamaha amp. I don’t think so. Due to the HS7 having its own amplifier and doesn’t appear to be defeat able which would make them passive , these speakers would not be compatible. Also, the rear of the HS7 does not show traditional speaker binding posts, which is how the A-S send the audio to connected speakers.

I hope this helps, and happy hunting! Yes: You divide total watts by four. For example, watts by 4 is per channel 50 watts. Hi, sorry for delayed response. Not sure what you mean – there is a powered connection for Yamaha accessories that might require it and a connection for a pc.

Not sure if either is what you are referring to I’m not using either of them Next to the optical and coax jack there is a USB jack. This is how I connect my computer to the amp, for streaming purposes. I do not use this amp in an AV setup it’s strictly audio for me so I’m not sure how it would be used. Hi Chris. I copied this information from Yamaha’s web site, hope this helps.

You can also conveniently power the YBA via the DC out connection on the rear panel of this amplifier. I’m not sure what you mean by HDM port. I looked at the back of mine and didn’t see anything like that. I have a digital, optical, and a USB B ports. There’s also a USB A 5volt 0.

I’m assuming that what you are talking about is for Blu-ray. Yours must be a little different than mine, because I don’t have that port. I’m sorry that I can’t be anymore help to you [ Howard Oct 17, ].

Yes you can. All of my input sources plug into the DAC. That way everything goes through the EQ first before going to the amp. I hope this helps. I will add I have no way of knowing and comparing the Dell sound card I wish you good luck [ Russell Jun 04, ].

The audioengine B1 Bluetooth hooked up with optical sounds so much better than the cd that I was amazed! I replaced a 20 year old Yamaha integrated amp in the 5 series when I purchased this one.

I am a long-time Yamaha customer. That being said I am delighted with this new component. Beautiful smooth sound and imaging has enhanced my collection of music.

I have listened to music that I have heard thousands of times and hearing nuances that I never heard before. That being said it would be an amazing addition to your system! You probably could, but I’m sure that there. Is a less expensive way to use DAC. Check around more, first.

Hello, I see no mention of the DAC in the manual. Audioholics has a full review and testing of the A-S I am using a Parasound box for my DAC with the turntable and computer files. Just plug it into the back. Jan 29, ]. Yes, you can use a two into one connector cable.

I’m using the same thing on mine. The signal coming from the amp will split into both channels. I have mine going into a power amp to drive my sub. Works great with no issues. I hope that helps you. We have not received any answers from other customers on your question. I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone or online chat. They should be able to help answer your question. SO, the Yamaha has a phono input. With MM Moving magnet cartridges, the built in phono-preamp will be enough to get a decent signal.

Now, if you wanted an even more improved signal, or had a MC Moving coil cartridge , you may want to up grade with a component phono-preamp.

I really can’t answer your question regarding the necessity for a phono pre-amp. I think it would need one, but a question easily answered by a tech advisor at Crutchfield.

I bought the Yamaha amp for its 4 ohms compatibility to power Buchardt 4 ohm speakers. Of course it got good reviews for the price point. In addition, it is just an old school amp without all the home theater stuff was also a plus. I had to turn off the internal pre-amp for it to even work properly. Way too much signal. I haven’t tried it with the internal turntable pre-amp on and plugged into a regular amplifier input but I’m guessing having the pre-amp built into the integrated amp would have a more stable power supply to work with.

These folks pretty well nailed it! I’ll explain to help. Software drivers are needed to use this receiver’s USB port with a computer. No, not that I know of. I use my computer with it, without any additional software. Follow the steps in your owners manual and download the driver that is compatible with your computer [ Stephen R. Aug 03, ]. Yes, look in the owners manual and follow the instructions to download the correct driver for your computer [ Stephen R. I’m not totally sure but I think it strictly USB input.

I’d ask crutchfield. I’ve not tried digitizing LP’s. I don’t know. I have 2 ‘s powering separate systems. Great unit. Tom [ Tom May 31, ]. Hi, the usb is for pc music file input only. Not as straight forward as I’d like. Versatile unit however. May 25, ]. The Yamaha A-S does still utilize a front knob for input selection. It is adjacent to the volume knob and has a label and light to indicate which source is selected.

Just checked. They feel like plastic. Yes they are [ Robert Jan 13, ].
